On the Dot

Stella & Dot is my new favorite accessory line that I recently discovered while browsing the local Sisters Consignment boutique owned by Charisse Layne here in "Sin City."  Her boutique was filled with amazing merchandise such as furniture, clothing and accessories.  Brands spotted were Dior, Louis Vuitton, and Jimmy Choo to name a few.   Hmm... that last part rhymed!  Anyhow, I especially loved that her store is eco friendly!  There are recycled hangers, racks, shelves and all items are gently used.  At Sisters Consignment they Re-Gift, Re-Use and Recycle.  I had fun browsing the boutique, however, I can't help but  find my way to an accessory such as this bracelet that I found!  Pictured above is the clover single wrap bracelet perfect for layering.  It was a major plus when it came in this cute box!  Visit Charisse's site at sistersconsignment.net

Oh accessories how I love thee!!!  My closest friends all know that I can't get enough of accessories!  To me, accessories can save the day!  You can wear the most plain, simple tee and dress it up with stackable bracelets or a statement necklace.  The possibilities are endless!  Some of my friends face the dilemma of not knowing how to accessorize or pick what goes with what.  The key is to be fearless.  After I pick out what to wear, I simply go to my birdcage (yes, I have a birdcage wear I hang all my accessories) and look in the mirror and ask myself what does this outfit need.  If it has a crazy neckline maybe earrings or a cocktail ring might complete the look.  If it's a plain tee then perhaps I'll choose the route of sporting arm candy with stackable bangles.  In the winter, you will probably find me wearing mostly necklaces or rings since my arms aren't showing due to long sleeves.  It is possible to overkill with accessories.  If a statement necklace is worn, then your best bet is to not throw on some dangly earrings.  Allow the statement piece to breathe.  Is the accessory simple?  If yes, then don't be afraid to layer!  In a nutshell, it's hard for me to leave the house without completing a look with bracelets, rings, necklaces or earrings.  To me accessories finish off the outfit like a period or exclamation point at the end of a sentence!  Now go on, be fearless and accessorize! XOXO

Flannel Friday

Return of the grunge? I think not.  However I don't have a problem with grunge if it's pulled off the right way.  I wasn't by any means trying to pull off grunge, but I do have a secret love for flannel button downs!  Not just any flannel button down of course, it has to be the right color and most of all the right fit.  I had to pair it off with these glasses and yes, they are prescription because I'm blind, but I figured it was a nice way to complete the outfit.  This is another side to the many looks, besides my boho chic style, that I love to pull off.
I looked everywhere for these tights! I couldn't remember where I had originally seen them, but  Topshop didn't let me down!  I have to admit, I did get quite a few stares walking throughout Caesar's Palace last night on my way into work.  I'm not sure if it was because of the tights or the bright red lipstick or the entire outfit all together that had people gazing over.  Either way I enjoyed my crazy style for the night!  What do you think?

Barren Boho

"I have never been in a natural place and felt that was a waste of time.  I never have. And it's a relief.  If I'm walking around a desert or whatever, every second is worthwhile." -Viggo Mortenson  It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon, a high of 72 degrees with clear sunny skies promising that spring is just around the corner!   Days like this, helps me to appreciate the beauty of the desert.  I'm usually into more greenery, but I strive to find greatness in every aspect of the desert.  Luckily, Vegas is far from worry when it comes to natural disasters.  Do I wish to be surrounded by big, beautiful green trees or meadows filled with flowers that permeate the air with their sweet essence to frolic and lie down in?  You bet I do! However, it is in this desert the people I love reside as well.  Because of that, it makes even the most ugliest looking cactus or shrub more beautiful! XOXO

I kept coming back to this dress when I was shopping at a local vintage boutique.  I couldn't take my eyes off of it!  Not only is it purple, my favorite color, but it had the bohemian chic flair that I'm usually drawn to!

My Funny Valentine

Last night I enjoyed a cute relaxing, quiet picnic with my Valentine at one of the parks here in Vegas that had a nice view of the Strip.  We ordered take out and kept it low key because we just didn't feel like getting dressed up and sitting in a restaurant and having to stress about making a reservation on time.  I dressed down and warm which was why I didn't take any pics of myself in an outfit! Haha! I must say it was nice not having to worry about what to wear.  Valentine's Day shouldn't be so commercialized on material things like Christmas has become, instead it should be about the people that you have in your life. Of course it's fun to get dressed up for a special occasion, I'm not saying that you shouldn't have fun with it!  I was never one of those people that was a "Debbie Downer" about how I don't have a Valentine in the past because I made sure that I spent it with people that I loved and cared about such as my family or friends.  Being in good company that allows you to laugh till your stomach hurts is key! My boyfriend may not be perfect, but he does know how to make me laugh! It's sad that it takes a special holiday to help remind us all how to LOVE.  What about the other 364 days in a year? Do you LOVE the people in your life enough?  I know we all get busy with our lives, but it's always nice to hug someone,  call that person you've been meaning to call, or perform a nice simple gesture for someone.  Our stay here on earth is not permanent and our tomorrows are not promised so we might as well enjoy each other's company while we are all here! XOXO

The Moments

Earlier this evening I had dinner with a good friend of mine at Red Velvet Cafe located on 7875 W Sahara Ave.  I didn't realize that what I had ordered, besides the February special of hummus chicken and avocado on flatbread, were actually red just like my nails!  Everything was served tastefully and beautiful when it came out.  This place was AHHHH-MAZING!  For starters, the food is super healthy and can be made vegan.  Though I'm not vegan because I love chicken too much, it's still great to have that option for those who are.  I love health conscious places! The food took a little while to cook, but that only meant that the ingredients are fresh and not processed.  We each ordered the sparkling sangria tea pictured above and it quenched every ounce of thirst we had.  This will be a great spot to quench my thirst for those hot dry summer days that's for sure!  While we waited for our food, the staff was super friendly and our server, who happens to be a guy, saw that we had our purses on our laps.  He then brought out these cute purse hangers that allowed us to hang our purses on the edge of the table.  Now that right there is just downright fabulous! Not only was the food fresh and yummy, but they are prepared for a lady's purse!  I love it!  One of my pet peeves is going into a public bathroom stall and not having a purse hanger on the back of the door.  I may have gotten a little spoiled living in Vegas, but when you go into a multi million dollar hotel/casino and the women's bathrooms don't have purse holders, or even worse, they're ripped off and they never took the time to replace them, it makes you wonder!  Anyhow, you're probably wondering how can I go to a place called Red Velvet Cafe without having a piece of red velvet cake?!  The answer- I can't!  The cake melts in your mouth and the frosting is sweet yet light.  I couldn't even finish my story as we sat there in silence, indulging every bit of that slice!  The only song that came to mind that I started to sing that made my friend laugh was by Edwin McCain "...These are the moments, I thank God that I'm alive."  It's the little things in life that keep me happy...the Moments...XOXO

Fur Friday

Sorry PETA!  I couldn't resist when I was shopping vintage and found this Marc Jacobs fur vest!  I was looking for the perfect fur vest and when I saw this it was definitely a steal! The weather has been in the high 60s here in Vegas all week until yesterday.  I was actually excited because I was waiting for the day that it would be cold enough to rock this fur vest!  Not only was it freezing and windy yesterday, but I'm also somewhat under the weather so it kept me nice and warm.  These were taken before pre-show before I had to put on my sparkly dress for the stage.  Even though I am sick, the show must go on! Wednesday

Nifty Thrifty

Today I had such a blast with one of my long time friends William Bounmasanonh of The Find PDX.  I knew I was in good hands when shopping vintage with him.  Will always had a knack for fashion and has the absolute BEST finds!  Don't believe me, visit his website!  Today we ventured off downtown in the rapidly growing Arts District and let me tell you, I'm so excited about these places I get butterflies just thinking of them!  First stop was with Stephanie from Glam Factory Vintage where she specializes in 50s and 60s mod clothing.  Stephanie's boutique, located on 211 Colorado Street, is super cute and has clothing from designers such as Sy Devore, who used to design clothing for celebs such as the Rat Pack!  People come to her store when they are in need to find mod clothing for movies or just to be downright unique and stylish!

The second store we ventured off to was the Gypsy Den (next door to Glam) with KT Cewe.  I'm in love with 70s bohemian style and this store screams my name! Not only is the Gypsy Den a vintage boutique, but it also has artisan made jewelry as well! Anyone who knows me well, knows that I love accessories and that I can't ever seem to get enough of it. This place had me so excited!  I had purchased a crystal quartz necklace made by KT and I absolutely can't wait to wear it!

Our third place and final vintage boutique that we visited was Electric Lemonade Shop located on 220 E Charleston.  This place was chic with artsy decor done by local artists and had 70s pieces that drew me in!  I'm absolutely in love with the growth of the Arts District here in downtown Vegas and anyone local or visiting should definitely check these boutiques out!

QUESTIONS GIVEN BY DEEYAH

How did blogging affect your life?
Blogging has made me more motivated and positive because I get to inspire people while being inspired by other bloggers. I love it!

If you get trapped in an island and you’re allowed to bring only one thing with you, what would it be? I would bring a laptop that has never ending battery life! Possibly solar powered?!

Who is your style icon?
I have many style icons because I draw inspiration from many, but one that sticks out is Rachel Zoe.

Are you a dog or a cat person? Both.

Would you or would you not change your name? If yes, what would you want it to be?
I have already changed my name. lol My real last name causes too much confusion so I changed it to "Jadyn" since I often get asked if I'm related to people that are famous.

What is so unique about your blog?
My blog is unique in the sense that it describes what it's about and location in two words FashSin City= "Fashion in Sin City" or "Fashion in Las Vegas"

What do you expect in your blog years from now?
Hopefully to have drawn more traffic to my blog so I can keep inspiring others with fashion and it would be cool to use it as a platform towards a career of some sort in the fashion industry ;)

Shop or swim? Def. shop!

Who would you rather date? Ashton Kutcher, Channing Tatum or Ryan Gosling.
It depends on which one clicks the most with my personality..the one who's the most down to earth and goofy!

Would you prefer to live somewhere else? I love Vegas because if it weren't for this town I probably wouldn't have started this blog, but I do love California because of the weather, trees, and ocean!

If there’s one question you’d want to ask yourself, what would it be and what will be the answer?
How did I make it this far in life? Answer- Each day I write down what I'm thankful for and no matter what life throws at me, good or bad, I keep moving forward :)
