Had I Gone to Coachella

Each year I say to myself "Next year I'm going to Coachella."  What ends up happening when the year rolls back around?  I don't end up going.  Why?  I'll come up with reasons on why I can't go and talk myself out of it.  I guess I've never been much of a planner.  Planning events or social outings to me is like setting myself up for disappointment.  Not to take the planners down, I feel planning things out is  too much of a commitment for everyone involved.  Living in Vegas, I find that for most groups of people, it can be hard to commit to plans because there's a saturation of restaurants, nightclubs, and concerts that pull you in each and every direction.  This in turn makes it hard for a group of people to all want to do the same thing once they're on the strip in the mix of all the excitement.   I've experienced this in the past with friends locally and friends that come to visit.  The lights down on the strip will get ya with distraction every time!!  I love concerts, but for me to actually buy concert tickets is a commitment because I feel things don't always happen the way that you planned.  A lot can happen from the time that you purchased the tickets to the time of the actual concert!  My thoughts on all of this is a bit bizarre but as a fashionista maybe I'm also thinking..." Oooh with two concert tickets I can buy a couple of new outfits or a pair of awesome boots!" Funny huh?  There are so many things that happen in a day, good and bad, most of which we didn't plan at all. To me when every move is strategically planned out, I feel that I will miss out on important moments because I'll be so engulfed and stressed in making sure that "my plans" worked out that I will forget to stop and smell the roses.  A free spirit by nature, my favorite and most cherished memories are the ones where I go with what pops in my head at that moment.  Basically if I wanted to go on a hike by myself because I feel I need to get away, I'll do it.  I wanted to go skydiving and one night my old coworkers and I decided to go the next morning and we did!  There are important things in life that I have to plan out such as meetings, appts etc but to plan out my social calendar?  No thanks.  Maybe it's because I've dealt with flaky people so much in the past that it's hard for me to muster up the energy to want to make plans all together.   At this point in my life I thrive off of spontaneity.  It' a good thing and a bad thing just like anything else.

Coachella would definitely take some crazy planning especially since it's in the neighboring state of California.  Am I driving or am I flying?  What hotel am I going to stay at?  Then I would have to compare prices.  Ugh! After all that, I think, "Wow, how exhausting. Do I really want to go now?"  One of the music festivals that I have been to that is here every year now is the Electric Daisy Carnival and that was a blast!  I had a friend perform on a stage in front of a sea of people all doing the same thing just full of energy.  It was a sight to see!  On the main stage it was insane! No concert venue here in town could ever hold that many people so seeing that many people gathered for this festival at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway was pretty awesome!  Would I pay and plan to go again?  Probably not.  Would I go if someone gave me tickets randomly out of nowhere? Yes.  Hmm, there goes my free spirit spontaneity kicking in again...

Aside from my ramblings, it's possible I would have worn something similar to this outfit had I gone to Coachella.

Make a Statement

There's so many ways to make a statement with fashion.  Bright colors can make an instant impact or pop to an outfit right down to a crazy printed shoe!  In fashion, the possibilities are endless.  Like myself, it's constantly changing and evolving.  The fun part about fashion is that it also recycles.  The old is new and the new will soon enough be old.  Anyhow, I haven't had much time to blog as much as I would like, but when I saw this necklace at H&M I was excited to get it because I was on the hunt for a fun statement necklace.  For a person that loves accessories, this is a great piece to add to your collection because it has both gold and silver tones so you won't be limited to wearing just gold or just silver with it.  The colorful stones add that extra fun spring and summer flair with just enough edge to make that statement with a simple casual outfit.  Today I wore it with a denim vest from Zara over a striped tank paired with black skinnies and flats.  The other accessory piece I added to my outfit of the day was a gold Casio watch from American Apparel.  I know some people don't know what to do when it comes to accessories.  A statement necklace will more than likely be a quick and easy step to help build an outfit around.  If anything, a statement necklace could be a great conversation piece for an upcoming event or party.  Dare to be different and dare to make a statement!

Wednesday

Rock that Boho

A woman always needs time spent with her girls to have good conversation and enjoy some yummy food.  This past weekend, my friends and I decided to try the Meatball Spot at Townsquare Mall.  "Top Chef" celebrity chef Carla Pelligrino is part owner of the spot along with her pals Tom Recine and Charissa Davidovici.  Celebs such as Ice T and CoCo, Mike Tyson, and Britney Spears are just a few of who have stopped in to enjoy some of the eats that the spot has to offer.   My girls and I enjoyed some sangrias, pasta and of course...meatballs!  We also shared a side of parmesan fries and those were amazing!  Townsquare Mall is a nice relaxed outdoor mall that has a movie theater, restaurants, plenty of bar hopping, shopping and people watching.  Now is the time to enjoy Townsquare before it gets too ridiculously hot out here in the desert.  I decided to rock out in a Beatles sleeveless tee that I had gotten at New Look in London while I was there last November.   I pulled a chiffon leopard cardigan over it paired with my favorite cutoff shorts I got from Zara and some turquoise.  If I had to dress a certain way every day for the rest of my life it would probably be something along the lines of mixing both rock and bohemian styles together!  The shirt may say "Beatles," but the outfit reminds me of Steven Tyler.  I love drawing inspiration from rock stars like Steven Tyler and Lenny Kravitz.  Their edge in style have always  been an influence for me.

2 Ways to Wear a Printed Tank Dress

For anyone that would love to vamp up their closets for the summer with color and print, this might be fun to try if you are afraid to wear or buy that colorful tight dress!  That cute dress doesn't have to be limited for a night out only.  The colors and the fun print of this dress is what had me at hello when I first laid eyes on it.  Anyone that would see this dress on a hanger would probably think, "Hmm, it's a bit too loud" as their main initial thought.  I wouldn't wear this dress by itself unless it had another element added to it.  The element I added here was the black top.  For the most part, I try to push my creativity by thinking of more ways to wear something.  Since this dress was printed and offered plenty of color, I figured this black top can tone it down a bit to where it almost looks like a skirt.  I loved this top because the back had sheer material and draped over my shoulder enough to where you can see more of the dress.  I also tried for a more casual flat boot so it can be worn during the day.  Cute thong sandals would also be another casual way to complete the look for the summer.

This look is for the daring and unafraid!  I would wear this option if I was going out to a nightclub and wanted to be different.  I rarely go out these days, but if I did, this would definitely be one of my top picks.  The studded biker vest allows the dress to be shown off more when worn opened, and the booties with a heel shows off more leg and edginess perfect for a night out in Vegas!  Anyhow, hope you enjoyed!
